Dr. Seuss Dress Up Days

Celebrate a love of reading and unite as a school with these ideas based on books by Dr. Seuss:

Cat in the Hat Day - wear red and white
Grinch Day - wear green
Foot Day - wear socks that do not match
Diffendoofer Day - wear striped shirts
Read a Shirt Day - wear a shirt filled with words
Sneetches Day - make and pin a green star on your shirt
Hat Day - pay to wear a hat and donate the money to the public library, buy a classroom book, etc.

    Hats off to hometown heroes! Have student write to local heroes and ask them about their favorite books. Showcase these hometown heroes and their choices in you reading celebration.

    Have students make a list of hats that denote jobs (ex: fireman's hat, chef's hat, etc.). Draw a person wearing a hat. Have students write about it.  For younger students, provide the prompt, "When I grow up. I want to be a ..."
