Third graders enjoy reading books in series. At this age, they have
begun to understand that words can have more than one meaning, resulting
in a love of jokes, riddles, and puns. It is important for students at this age to
be allowed to choose their own books. They enjoy silly stories with a
real-life context. We recommend that third graders start with 200 minutes
the first month and increase by 50 minutes each month.
